ABOUT ME
Dr. Andreea Muţ is a distinguished collaborative pianist and educator based in Houston, TX. Originally from Romania, she has performed in numerous countries including Romania, France, Spain, Colombia, Mexico, and the United States. Dr. Muţ has earned multiple national and international competition prizes in her home country of Romania. She moved to Texas in 2009 and completed her Doctorate in Collaborative Arts at the University of Houston in 2015.
Dr. Muț has been an active performer and collaborator with various prestigious organizations, such as ROCO Houston, Houston Grand Opera, DACAMERA, APERIO - Music of the Americas, Opera in the Heights, AFA (American Festival of the Arts), the Foundation for Modern Music, the Texas New Music Ensemble, Houston Symphony Chorus, the Texas Music Festival, Opera San Antonio, Houston Youth Symphony, and the Classical Music Institute in San Antonio, Texas. She also regularly performs for the Harmony in the Air concert series at Houston’s Hobby Airport as part of the Gerling-Muţ Duo, a collaboration with violinist Dr. Ingrid Gerling.
In addition to her extensive performance career, Dr. Muţ is also a dedicated educator. Since 2016, she has served as a staff pianist and vocal coach at the University of Houston, where she supports students in their musical development. This summer, she will return to BUTI (Boston University Tanglewood Institute) as a vocal coach for their Young Artist Vocal Program. Dr. Muţ enjoys being an integral part of Houston’s musical community, also serving as organist and pianist at St. Stephen's United Methodist Church, and pianist for the Grammy-winning Houston Chamber Choir.
